This is our club. We are not big. We are not fancy. We are not bright and shiny. We are not gimmicky. We are not imitators. We are original. We do things our way. We are a family of people with a love for the barbell. We are beginner lifters, we are elite lifters, we are masters lifters, we are youth lifters, we are athletes, we are general lifting enthusiasts held together by the bond of that barbell. We train, not just because we love to, or want to, or have to, but because we need to. This is our club, and there is no other like it.
Who We Are:
The Harrisburg Weightlifting Club in NC is made up of a diverse group of dedicated Olympic-style weightlifters. Our experience spans over 25 years in the Olympic Weightlifting and Health & Fitness industry. We have the knowledge and experience to help you accomplish whatever goals you have set for yourself. We have coached multiple National Champions, State Champions, and National competitors. Olympic lifting is, without question, one of the most valuable types of training when it comes to developing overall explosive power, strength, speed, fast-twitch muscle fiber recruitment, and jumping ability. Whether you are a high school/middle school student, college athlete, aspiring or professional athlete, the Olympic lifts can help you develop that raw, functional strength needed for your individual sport.
Weightlifting competitions(meets) consist of the Snatch and Clean & Jerk, and are judged by bodyweight class and gender. Competition levels range from local meets and state championships, to National, International, World Championships, and Olympic Games. Some colleges also have weightlifting teams, and offer scholarships to high-caliber lifters.
Our Vision:
The vision of the Harrisburg Weightlifting Club is to insure that each and every member has every opportunity to succeed and grow. Our club is open to anyone who aspires to learn the techniques of weightlifting. Whether you want to be a competitive weightlifter, learn how to weight-lift to improve athletic performance, or learn to weight-lift for general health and fitness, we are here to help you achieve those goals.
Our training philosophy is centered on long-term, sustainable growth and success as a weightlifter. We work with competitive weightlifters, amateur and professional athletes, and general fitness enthusiasts in a fun, energetic, and family-friendly atmosphere. We do all we can to give our team members every chance to flourish in this sport. We accomplish this through coaching, programming, outside team events, fundraising for travel expenses, flexible gym access, and mentor-ship.
As a USA Weightlifting Club, we strive to do everything we can to grow the Olympic sport of weightlifting in the United States. For that reason, we hold our team members to a high standards of conduct both on and off the competition platform.
Whether you want to compete, increase your athletic performance for other sports, or simply get better at the lifts for your own enjoyment, we can help accommodate your specific needs. Whether you are already an advanced lifter looking to join a club, or have never even picked up a barbell, we are open to all. Come try us out!
