If you don’t already know, the HWC is one of the top Weightlifting clubs in the country, not just in NC. There are over 27,000 members in USA Weightlifting. About 30 train inside our gym, and so far 17 have stood on the National Podium to receive a medal. In 2021, our Men’s, Women’s and Co-Ed Teams each won the NC State Championship titles, with our top Male and Female individual lifters winning Best Lifter awards.
We are one of the most diverse clubs in the country as well. Most large clubs have a couple of high level lifters, and most in just one division. We have National medalists in every division, from Youth, U25, Junior, and University level lifters, to Senior and Masters level lifters, both Males and Females. We’ve had 12 National Champions and multiple Team USA members across those divisions, since 2016. Our female lifters and male lifters are equally impressive. Between 2021 and 2023 alone, 16 of our lifters (10 males and 6 females) won medals at the National Championships, with 8 of those lifters being crowned National Champions (5 males and 3 females). We didn’t start with this success, however. In 2013, most of our lifters started out probably just like you, with little to no experience, or needing a change of direction. But since 2013, our lifters have accumulated 98 National Medals, and 7 International Medals.
When you join the Harrisburg Weightlifting Club, you receive the opportunity to train alongside, learn from, and be coached by arguably one of the best and most experienced coaching staff in the Nation. All of our coaches are competitors, and your teammates as well. They have a combined 65 years of experience in Weightlifting, 3 World Championship Titles, a Masters World Record in the Snatch, and 8 National Championship Titles.
When you join the HWC, you are choosing excellence. You are choosing to always give 100%, in order to have the opportunity to realize your full potential.

This is our club. We are not big. We are not fancy. We are not bright and shiny. We are not gimmicky. We are not imitators. We are original. We do things our way. We are a family of people with a love for the barbell. We are beginner lifters, we are elite lifters, we are masters lifters, we are youth lifters, we are athletes, we are general lifting enthusiasts held together by the bond of that barbell. We train, not just because we love to, or want to, or have to, but because we need to. This is our club, and there is no other like it.

Our experience spans over 30 years in the Olympic Weightlifting and Health & Fitness industry. We have the knowledge and experience to help you accomplish whatever goals you have set for yourself. We have coached a World University Champion, 7 National Champions, multiple State Champions, and multiple National medalists.
Olympic lifting is, without question, one of the most valuable types of training when it comes to developing overall explosive power, strength, speed, fast-twitch muscle fiber recruitment, and jumping ability. Whether you are a high school/middle school student, college athlete, aspiring or professional athlete, the Olympic lifts can help you develop that raw, functional strength needed for your individual sport.
Weightlifting competitions(meets) consist of the Snatch and Clean & Jerk, and are judged by bodyweight class and gender. Competition levels range from local meets and state championships, to National, International, World Championships, and Olympic Games. Some colleges also have weightlifting teams, and offer scholarships to high-caliber lifters.
Our Vision:
The vision of the Harrisburg Weightlifting Club is to insure that each and every member has every opportunity to succeed and grow. Our club is open to anyone who aspires to learn the techniques of weightlifting. Whether you want to be a competitive weightlifter, learn how to weight-lift to improve athletic performance, or learn to weight-lift for general health and fitness, we are here to help you achieve those goals.
Our training philosophy is centered on long-term, sustainable growth and success as a weightlifter. We work with competitive weightlifters, amateur and professional athletes, and general fitness enthusiasts in a fun, energetic, and family-friendly atmosphere. We do all we can to give our team members every chance to flourish in this sport. We accomplish this through coaching, programming, outside team events, fundraising for travel expenses, flexible gym access, and mentor-ship.
As a USA Weightlifting Club, we strive to do everything we can to grow the Olympic sport of weightlifting in the United States. For that reason, we hold our team members to a high standards of conduct both on and off the competition platform.
Whether you want to compete, increase your athletic performance for other sports, or simply get better at the lifts for your own enjoyment, we can help accommodate your specific needs. Whether you are already an advanced lifter looking to join a club, or have never even picked up a barbell, we are open to all. Come try us out!

You will be able to come in any time during those hours to complete your training. The cost at that point is $125/month.

Additional coaching fees - In addition to monthly dues, team members are required to pay for coach's competition travel fees. These fees are based off the number of athletes expecting to compete , as well as the number of Local and National competitions expected during the upcoming year. The more team members competing, the less the fees will be. The fees include Coach travel costs for airfare/mileage, hotel, rental car, meals, etc. Coach's fees are calculated for the entire year, based on the upcoming competition calendar, and divided into installments for easier payment, or lump sum payment is also accepted. The calculation will be based off the number of competitive athletes on the roster after the American Open Finals each year, and payments will begin Jan 1.
